Christmas is a moment many people of all ages enjoy celebrating. There are many holidays songs playing on the radio to bring you into the jolly mood. Many traditional Christmas songs will be playing like, Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer. There will be new pop versions of Christmas songs like All I Want for Christmas is You, Last Christmas, and Santa Tell Me. Many people celebrate holidays in the winter, such as Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and Christmas. There may be many holidays that people celebrate in the winter, but Christmas is the most celebrated of them all. At the end, everyone gets presents and many people are happy during these moments. A lot of people love being cozy and warm, especially when winter comes around. If you are this person, you should understand how you love being wrapped with warm blankets and seasonal drinks. This is the time when many people shop for their favorite sweaters (don’t forget the ugly sweaters too!), flannels, scarves, and beanies- basically anything that will keep them warm and comfortable. There are also many seasonal drinks coming out just for winter. Eggnog, mocha, hot chocolate, and more will be on sale for the cold winter. These drinks are very special for winter holidays because most of them keep you warm. There is also going to be snow in many states. Lots of people may go to the snow to have fun and play with the snow. But stay there when you can, because spring is right around the corner! Their head is rounded and they don’t have ear tufts. They can be found in grasslands, deserts, or any other open, dry area with low vegetation. They live underground in burrows they dig themselves or take over from a prairie dog, ground squirrel, or tortoise. Unlike most owls, during the day they spend most of their time on the ground or on low perches such as fence posts. They hunt close to the ground catching insects and small animals. When they feel alarmed, they jerk their bodies quickly up and down. Movies that include burrow owls are “HOOT” by Wil Shriner, based on Carl Hiaasen's novel of the same name. The burrowing owl is federally protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Burrow owls are listed as endangered in Canada and threatened in Mexico. They are considered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to be a Bird of Conservation Concern at the national level, in three USFWS regions, and in nine Bird Conservation Regions. At the state level, Burrowing Owls are listed as endangered in Minnesota, threatened in Colorado, and as a Species of Concern in Arizona, California, Florida, Montana, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming, according to http://burrowingowlconservation.org/burrowing_owl_facts . 1. Where were you born? I was born in Oakland then moved to SF. 2. What college did you attend? I went to SF State for my undergrad then University of SF. 3. What do you think about phones in school? It is important for students to disconnect from their phones and be present with others because it helps develop social skills but technology in the classroom is great. But it is not good to use phones in class. 4. How do you like A.P. so far? I love it. I'm very happy here. There is lots of support from the staff, and I’ve met a lot of people here and I feel like I have a lot of creativity here. 5. Why did you decide to work at A.P. but not at another school? Great reputation and I really wanted to work at SFUSD. Also there is a lot of diversity here and justice in middle school and it starts independence with the students. 6. If you had superpowers what would they be and why? I would compel people to make them do what I want them to do. I would want this power because it would stop people from running in the halls and other examples. |
